as many of you are aware, the UK is experiencing very heavy snowfall at the moment

if you are coming to ride at Esher Shore its worth calling the shop before coming over, to make sure we are open

transport is difficult in the south-east at the moment, with long delays to trains and buses, making it hard for staff to get into work and get the shop / bike park open

2010 Website update

A quick heads up that the Esher Shore website has been updated for 2010 with the Sandown Park horse racing closure calendar

this is found on the "info" page, and shows riders which days we close early on, due to Horse Racing next door at Sandown

The first race meet of 2010 is on Saturday 2nd January, and the park will close at 12.30pm

If you want to ride on the 2nd turn up at opening at 10am and you can have 2.5 hours riding for just £2 (with an existing membership)

Esher Shore opening hours during the vacation

Both the Esher Shore bike park, and Freeborn Esher bike shop will be closed on the following days during the Christmas vacation period

Thursday 24th December (Christmas eve)
Friday 25th December ( Christmas day)
Saturday 26th December ( Boxing day)
Friday 1st January 2010 ( New year's day)

If you want to ride the bike park, come before Christmas Eve, or in the gap between Boxing Day and New Year

Esher Shore is always open in the Winter

A quick heads-up to any riders looking for somewhere to ride during the wet Winter months

Esher Shore is open 7 days a week (10am-6pm Mon-Sat, 11am-4pm Sun / Bank Holidays) and is a safe bet for a good riding session even during the foulest weather!

We've just finished clearing all the leaf fall out of bike park, and have been woodchipping all the footpaths and communal areas, which helps keep the park nice and grippy under foot, during wet weather

The trails themselves are a mix of wire-covered timber and well drained dirt, so even if its raining or snowing, wrap up warm, make sure you've got some knobbly tires on your bike, and come ride at Esher!

Pump Track at Esher Shore

Work has been progressing very nicely at Esher Shore on the brand new Pump Track that we are opening for Easter 2010



We've been putting in alot of work recently, and the Pump Track is really starting to take a proper shape with multiple lines, crossovers and loops



We are also working carefully on proper drainage systems, to make the Pump Track usable as soon as possible after wet weather - as an example, we had rain last night but I rode my Mythic Rampant on the track today by pumping the bike and not having to pedal at all

It wasn't as quick as when the Track is totally dried out, but very encouraging that it works even after rain, and the bumps are starting to get just the right shape for pumping the bike

We are talking to Dirt Magazine about doing a feature on the Pump Track in due course!
